a letter from sway,
Hi, I'm Sway.
I'm 21 years old, originally from Vicksburg, Mississippi, and the founder of Poworks Productions.
My journey into filmmaking started in the sixth grade with a class project that I wrote and directed. Looking back, it was objectively... god awful. But it introduced me to something I'd never experienced before. The ability to create an entire world from an idea. From that moment on, I knew this was what I wanted to dedicate my life to.
A few years later, I moved to Georgia to attend DeKalb School of the Arts, where I refined my craft and built the foundation of my portfolio. It was there that I learned filmmaking isn't just about making something look beautiful. It's about making people feel something.
Editing has always been the part of the process that feels most like home. It's where stories find their rhythm, where emotion is shaped, and where everything finally clicks into place. Whether I'm cutting a commercial, building a brand story, or developing an original concept, I'm always searching for the feeling hidden between the frames.
I started Poworks Productions because I wanted to create more than videos. I wanted to build a home for ideas. A place where artists, brands, and storytellers could create work that feels intentional, honest, and memorable.
As I grow, so does Poworks. My goal is to continue expanding into creative direction, develop original films, collaborate with people who care deeply about their craft, and build a production company that outlives me.
I still think about that sixth-grade project sometimes. It wasn't good, but it gave me a feeling I haven't been able to shake since. Every project I've taken on has been my attempt to find that feeling again.
Thanks for stopping by.
I hope we make something together.
Sway
